A/B/C zones use different virtualisation software versions.
Zones A and B are physically located in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
Zone C is physically located in Tai Po, Hong Kong.
All zones have their own fibre and network connections to the Internet.
The zones are interconnected by high-speed fibre links.
During normal operation:
- The routers in all three zones choose the best path to each destination from the network connections available across all zones. For example, Zone A may reach Google through Zone C’s connection, and Aliyun through Zone B’s connection, to optimise routing.
If any zone goes offline or loses connectivity:
- The routers in each zone determine their own best path. For example, Zones A/B/C may have to use their own connections to reach Google and Aliyun, which can result in higher latency and packet loss.
