Please be aware that we have recently seen a significant increase in emails containing ransomware circulating online. Ransomware is malware that automatically encrypts files on your computer and then demands payment for the decryption key, usually in Bitcoin.

All email passing through Netfront systems is checked for viruses and spam. Messages confirmed to contain viruses or considered highly likely to be spam are sent directly to the server’s spam folder, retained for 90 days, and then automatically deleted. However, fighting viruses and spam is a continual game of cat and mouse; no system can filter every problematic message. For example, we find password-stealing phishing emails particularly difficult to filter because they change so rapidly.

We would therefore like to remind customers of some important principles when using email.

First, carefully consider the risks before entering a password, running a program, or performing any unfamiliar operation.

Second, never open unknown attachments. Some email attachments look like ordinary image or document files but are dangerous.

Third, we have found that some smartphone applications have very weak information security and may even be tools for stealing information, including applications on Apple’s App Store. Always use well-known, reputable software for any operation involving passwords or sensitive information. For example, use only a familiar browser to access your bank.

Fourth, install antivirus software on your computer and keep it updated.

Fifth, always keep backups of important files. Assume your computer could fail suddenly at any time.

Sixth, if you store files in the cloud, use more than one cloud storage provider.

Netfront also retains three days of daily snapshots for all our storage. If you accidentally lose email or files, contact us so that we can try to recover them from a snapshot.

Thank you for using our services. For enquiries, call our hotline on 2517-1209 or email us.
